AA waving a white flag isn't telling the whole story. Yields across the board have been quite poor for carriers given the bloodbath that persisted for a few years.

DL may have an outlook for the long-game here, but that'll take a tremendous amount of effort than just adding a few TX cities along with with BNA & MSY because you're getting double connections on a vast majority of routings possible with ABIA. I could see them building a small operation here but it'll take a lot of effort and capital to flex into the Texas market overall that they really pulled away from over 30 years ago after dropping DFW.

San Francisco is very aggressive. Delta only serves hub cities from SFO which AUS isnt... yet.

With all the tech industry here. An Asian route would be the best choice.

The coming few years will be interesting to watch. Delta is launching a SLC-ICN route next spring. Obviously, AUS is not a Delta hub (like SLC), but, it is interesting.

I would be shocked if Delta has not been negotiating that very thing...

Once-daily service is more "testing the waters" than outright commit, IMO. Tampa is prime WN territory & going up against United & Alaska to SFO is going to be an uphill battle. I'd be shocked if UA didn't both upgauge aircraft & increase frequency and AS increase frequency as well.

IND & MEM are interesting adds, especially the latter.

I can see your argument. However, one could also argue that once daily service is a "commitment." If they were "testing the waters" as it was put, they could have done one, two or three departures a week too.

The term "commitment" with regard to airline routes is truly subjective. No matter the amount of weekly departures, an airline can up and remove the route completely at a moment's notice.

Some airlines are far more conservative in initiating new routes. They do more research into the viability of said route. One could argue that Delta could be considered one of these airlines. On the other end of the spectrum, American and Southwest can be haphazard in initiating new routes. Throwing routes against a wall to see what sticks. And, this pattern can be quite expensive to said airline.

I just saw the BNA secured two new TATL routes: Dublin and Reykjavik.

Aer Lingus will fly 4x weekly to Dublin using their A321XLR product (not sure if this is seasonal only). And, Icelandair will also fly (seasonally) 4x weekly to Reykjavik on their B738MAX product.

It's too bad that AUS is just barely outside the ranges of both of those aircraft - or AUS might have seen those routes too.

LATAM has A321NEOs...so, routes to from AUS to Bogota, Quito, Guayaquil and Lima are within its range?!?
