Sky Tower will have floors higher than 320 metres, which is how high the regular floors on the ESB are, the rest is a Mooring Mast for airships... it's just a huge spire.

It will have more floors than the ESB and any building in NYC.

Only Willis Tower in Chicago in NA has more I believe with 108.

Question

I don't know what this weird little competition between the ESB and this skyscraper is but it's mad weird. They're different buildings built almost a century apart, so yeah they're different.

^also to the person above, most new tall buildings in NA have a low floor count because they have massive ceiling heights. It's a sign of luxury to rich buyers. That's the same for residential and commercial.

Someone just suggested that Toronto should build something taller than the ESB since people think of it as a quintessential North American tall skyscraper. Then others pointed out that One Yonge will be just as tall as ESB would be without the spire. Not sure it's that weird. IT's the sort of casual exchange that happens every day across the site.

I've noticed that with some of the newer buildings as well, Cleveland just put up a 36 story office building that's over 600 feet tall, normally a 36 story building would be 450-500 feet tall

Also, I like the fact people are comparing One Yonge to the most famous skyscraper in history even if they are different, it just goes to show how far Toronto has come

Yea, the occupied space is around 330 meters it seems, barely any vanity height at all.

Empire State does have one or two (albeit tiny) occupied floors at the top of the mast around 370 meters up.

Right, I guess it's a fun comparison as ESB is very famous and pretty tall.

ESB is basically a 320 meter building with a hat. This thing actually compares to some taller buildings like the 4 ~350m towers in Chicago after the Sears.

I think the age difference may actually have been a reason the OP singled out the ESB.

As in "the ESB was built 100 years ago and Toronto still hasn't produced a building as tall in all that time."

I see that Sky Tower was updated in the SSP database. It is listed now as 346.7 metres, up from 345.5 metres.

The glass actually looks pretty good so far. I hated the building based on the renderings and hoped it wouldn't get built but maybe it won't be as bad as I expected.

It will be amusing to watch The One become the tallest building in Canada for a few months before One Yonge surpasses it a few months later.

The One is around 230 metres right now and at a rate of 1 floor a week (~3 metres), it will hit 290 metres (the height of the current tallest) in 5-6 months..

One Yonge is currently around 130 metres in height.. at 1 floor a week, they are looking at about 15 months to hit 328m (the topped out height of One Yonge).

So The One will likely enjoy the title of Canada's tallest building for around 10 months.
