I feel like screening this parking deck would be so easy and cost so little. Its crazy they are comfortable leaving it like that. And the city is apparently cool with it too...

There is actually a newer rendering in this AJC article with what I think is some decent screening.

Looks like AMTRAK may be back on The Gulch location drive. I was hoping they would pick the Randal Brothers site and incorporate it into Atlantic Station and sell the air rights. Seems this would be a much easer plus less expensive option.

With the new infrastrucuture law in place and delivering over a trillion dollars over the next decade it seems like the perfect time for Atlanta and Amtrak to create a new passengar rail hub in downtown Atlanta. Unrelatedly, I've been wondering why the city of Atlanta hasn't reached out to the Federal government for help with its recent water woes? Seems like a great time to invest in an infrastructure project like that especially given that all eyes will be on downtown Atlanta next summer for the World Cup. Is there a plan in place to replace those pipes?

The updated renders for the Moxy hotel look a lot better. Its so simple to screen a deck. Idk why so many developers opt not too.

I still don't understand why Toll Brothers opted out of screening on the north side of Kinetic and Momentum, yet decided to do so on the south side which no one can see.

Has to be some belief that the adjacent lots will be developed eventually that made them not want to spend the money. Those lots are sandwiched between 3 major midtown developments that are shifting the center of gravity in midtown. Its bound to happen.

PROGRESS alert:

Looks like a couple of workers have hug 20 or so sheets of plywood. So I'm betting we will see the finishing touches in a couple of decades or so.

I suspect Eleventh Street Pub should encounter the LEAST amount of red tape applying for the water cutoff assistance funds. CITY of ATL: Can you prove you suffered loss of business or damage?

I guess all the Sivas changes they've been doing were illegal. They butchered the reno with that fugly bathroom tile look on the exterior.

Whatever happened to the new residential proposals going before Midtown DRC meeting.
I'm talking about the new student housing at the NE corner of Cypress and 7th, and the proposed tower at Peachtree and 13th streets? It was supposed to be 40+ floors.

Have these two projects died on the vine?

Went for a run this mid morning and was hot and humid. Was looking forward to stopping by the Opus 2 and taking a quick dip in the pool. For some reason the new owners have drained it. How disappointing.

Development team chosen for Home Depot Backyard project

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...ent-fuqua.html

Quote:
State officials have named a development team for a project that would build an entertainment destination next to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) is looking to repurpose the 11-acre Home Depot Backyard. The state agency put out a request for qualifications for the project in April.

The apparent awardee is a team comprised of Atlanta development and investment firm Pope & Land Real Estate, Atlanta developer Fuqua Development and Minneapolis-based architecture firm Nelson Worldwide, according to the state’s procurement registry.

Pope & Land, Fuqua Development and Nelson Worldwide previously worked together on The Battery Atlanta, the mixed-use project surrounding the Atlanta Braves’ ballpark in Cobb County.

“GWCCA envisions a seamless integration of convention facilities, entertainment venues and green spaces, fostering a sense of community and excitement,” the state agency said in a statement in April. “The proposed project will not only enhance the appeal of GWCCA’s campus but also contribute to the economic vitality of the surrounding area, attracting visitors from near and far.”

A budget for the project has not been established, according to the RFQ.
