GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The public plaza in front of Van Andel Arena's main entrance will soon see a complete upgrade. The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority approved funding Wednesday to renovate the plaza, which consistently ranks among the busiest venues of its size in the United States, officials with the authority said.
“Our vision is to transform the plaza into a more welcoming front yard for the Arena and Heartside neighborhood,” Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. Managing Director of Planning & Design Mark Miller said.
