GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The public authority that owns Van Andel Arena has reached a tentative agreement giving it the option to purchase a stretch of land along the Grand River that it’s eyeing as the site of a proposed 14,000-seat amphitheater. The Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority (CAA) reached the tentative agreement with the city of Grand Rapids, which owns the land at 201 Market Ave. SW. There will be some conceptual plans presented on February 24 for the site (I think the entire site, not just the amphitheater). That will be something to watch for.
Apparently, according to a filed permit, the retailer that will be moving into the new space on Lyon (adjacent to the DeVos Family HQ project) is Dollar General. It will be one of their "upmarket" DGX stores, basically a small convenience store that will include fresh food items. Here's a Nashville DGX store, and while it's a bummer it's not a more local business, this is a good improvement -
