For me HK is exciting to visit but I agree with others who've said it would be too intense for them to live there. Surprisingly (or not), I think Shanghai is the city in China where I'd choose to live for a couple of years. But not longer than that because of the pollution, which you're right does cast a haze over all Chinese cities unless the wind is blowing onshore. An acquaintance of mine just moved back to London from Shanghai after almost 10 years, because his kids (born there) were starting to develop asthma.

I agree it is sad about the pollution, that and the crowds are too reasons I couldn't move there. Pollution that causes diseases and grey skies in otherwise amazing cities. It seems like the south part of Hong Kong, shown above, got more sun when the central part, I think that's why all rich people want to live there.
