Yep, I saw that too. Looks like Wood Partners' conceptual site plan is interestingly timed with Hixon's sale of the site to WCCG. A little research on
Wood Partners reveals they have a pretty good reputation in the multi-family world and this would be their first project in Austin. Even with lakeside apartments to the south, a 6-9 story structured parking garage would allow clear lake views for most of a residential tower. Of course, Lakeside is nearly condemnable, so perhaps this is an opportunity for the city to partner with a larger development to provide a modernized affordable housing component. Also, I'm a little surprised the convention center hasn't pursued this site for future expansion. Either way, it's exciting to see something happening on this site.
