Denver, Boulder, others from Colorado (incld aerials, panos)
I took these pictures around Christmas 2007 / New Years 2008, but never got around to posting them. Some of the Colorado forumers may remember that visit; we had a meet at the Hyatt observatory bar.
Flying into Denver on a clear day can be fun. If you catch the right angle, you can see the whole metro area. ![]() ![]() ![]() 16th Street Mall ![]() ![]() The famous big blue bear. I'm not generally a fan of whimsical public art, but I like this one. ![]() I-25 in south Denver. ![]() Hooray light rail! ![]() ![]() ![]() There will be more light rail later... or maybe in another thread. I haven't decided yet. In the mean time: Boulder! ![]() Unlike Denver, Boulder is right snug up against the hills ![]() Boulderites are serious about their 55-foot height limit. Blame this ugly building downtown (and one other) for turning them against tall buildings. ![]() ![]() This is a public parking garage wrapped with retail and office. ![]() Pearl Street Mall ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() CU, my alma mater. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I stopped in Lakewood to see Belmar, a lifestyle center that was in planning back when I lived in CO. Right now (or rather: in 2007) it was pretty mall-without-a-roof like, but it was designed well enough. In another 10 or 20 years after infill has closed the gaps, it will be OK. ![]() ![]() ![]() The town of Woodland Park is west of Colorado Springs. I'd never been there before. ![]() ![]() ![]() All right. I don't think this thread is too long yet, so I'ma throw those transit pictures promised earlier in here. This is the Colorado Blvd light rail station, in south Denver. ![]() ![]() One of the on-street stops downtown. ![]() Convention Center station feels almost like a subway. ![]() ![]() The free downtown circulator (with Union Station bonus background). ![]() A regional coach bus leaving Boulder for Denver. Intercity service between them is pretty good, actually. ![]() Boulder does an excellent job with its buses. One thing they do is give each trunk line a unique branding scheme. Instead of the "17G" (or whatever), you take the "Dash". ![]() ... or the Jump. ![]() ... or any one of several others. Boulder's downtown bus station: ![]() ![]() |
And as promised, a couple of panos. These are downtown Denver, taken from Lakewood.

Great set of Boulder and Denver! Denver's skyline has changed quite a bit in that short period of time since you took those pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Boulder is my favourite suburban city, great job anyway!
|
Yup.

Really starting to fall in love with that town thanks in part to the photos posted on this forum.

Now this is the way to build. In a small suburban Atlanta city called Decatur, there are a couple of chunks of prime main street space taken up by parking garages. Every time I go to class, I think, "They can't just build the parking garage behind something more useful?" Now you've answered that question.

Nice work. I loved the night scenes at the beginning.

Nice shots!

Great shots. I love Denver...gives me warm fuzzies b/c it was the only city i frequented as a youngster thanks to relatives. Probably started my obsession that is carried out through this website!
|
Great shots of Denver! Im really digging Denver the more I see of it!
|
Interesting to see Woodland Park. We used to live just west of there in Divide. At 9200 ft elevation...6 months of Winter was just too much.
I love this group of photos! |
Nice mix of Denver, Boulder, and other places.
|
Cool scenes.
|
Very nice photos. A lot of good development --new and old -- represented here.
