They were planning on building a terminal at YHU a few years ago, but it never got off the ground for some reason. Would be pretty easy to link to AMT/Via line as well.

We'll see if this is temporary...
NewLeaf Travel Co temporarily ceases flights to four cities FP - Sep 15, 2016 Quote:

They've actually added another flight to Moncton (3X weekly now rather than 2X) Still, I don't hold out too much hope for the long term survival of this low cost experiment. |
In the same article it says they plan to double their fleet and add more cities. If they're planning to expand they must be doing well enough.

Edit: Actually now have a bit more info on the suspension of some of the NewLeaf cities: http://www.timescolonist.com/news/lo...oria-1.2345532 Some notable quotes indicating how well they were doing (mainly about Victoria and Kamloops): "Service for Victoria, Kamloops, Saskatoon and Regina continues until the end of October and will then be temporarily halted while NewLeaf reviews those routes, Julie Rempel, company spokeswoman, said Friday." “Six weeks into operations, we took a look at our 11 destinations and how they were performing in order to establish a long-term core network of destinations,” Rempel said. “We want to make sure that we are flying on the right days in and out of Victoria, in and out of Kamloops, in and out of Saskatchewan, and that we are flying to the right places.” "Rempel did not have information for how full flights have been in and out of Victoria. But an average of about 45 per cent of seats have been filled on its Kamloops flights, compared to Abbotsford flights, which are typically full." And in relation to the suspension of YQR and YXE: http://globalnews.ca/news/2945851/ne...and-saskatoon/ Notable quotes: "NewLeaf CEO and President Jim Young said the suspension is due to demand." "...we don’t want to be flying expensive airplanes with only 30 people on them" "He said they plan to resume flights in mid-December for the holidays." Some pretty vague info but in any event, this would have been during peak summer travel. |

So what's the speculation on the announcement?

I wonder if it will only be a YUL announcement, or perhaps other cities too?

Congrats, whatever it is. :)

I'm going to guess YUL-PVG!

AC has come a long way at YUL in the last 10 years. And to think they only served LHR, FRA and CDG back in 2008. Now we are in the double digit number of international destinations out of YUL, and counting.... |
Yessssssss PVG !!! Daily !! I hope hehehe

I thought that because I was dumb and didn't read the header on the press release that stated it was a major Montreal announcement.
|
YUL-PEK is my guess.

Seems to me launching 3x weekly service to a destination already served isn't major enough, no? It would be sweet if both PEK and PVG were launched. With Chinese carriers completely maxed out on the bilateral with Canada (save for a few slots held by HU), this is AC's chance to step up and establish itself in the next logical unserved markets. |
I wonder if this only includes an announcement for China or if the long awaited YUL BEY flight will be announced also.
