WS is also still going to launch YYC-YYG starting July 29th. This route was originally announced to start in 2020. Kind of surprised to see this happen this soon. I believe this only leaves YQB and the launch of YDQ as the only pre-pandemic domestic stations WS served from YYC left to be re-started.

Route was announced 4x weekly, but scheduled 2x weekly for this summer.

Today WS launches weekly summer seasonal Saturday service between YYJ and YOW.

BA timetables showing YUL and YVR resumptions on July 30th.

According to flightaware.com, YUL hasn't been served since October 2020. YVR hasn't been served since March 2020.

Vancouver_Highrise Jul 3, 2021 4:35 AM

Don’t count on BA starting anytime soon.. they have had a tentative start date back to YVR that gets pushed back every month.

hollywoodcory Jul 3, 2021 7:55 PM

Sounds like AC with YYC-FRA, there's a tentative restart date that gets bumped back literally every-single month.

Kind of wild that KLM will probably be back to pre-COVID level service before AC even resumes - basically anything international/US from YYC.

With 25,000 COVID-19 cases a day currently, I’d be surprised to see either of these resume before Labour Day.

I would if WS will restart YVR-LGW before BA returns? WS already gutted its long-haul schedule in August and kept a once weekly flight for YVR-LGW (for now).

WS is resuming service from YYC to LGW tomorrow and its load factors are looking decent. There appears to be more people booked on the inbound on Tuesday actually.

My BIL mention he starts mid Aug. So I figured the Porter anouncment was coming.

Porter spent the down time updating and painting their aircraft. Also sounds like they will be buying some jets soon.

Oh.

Despite this flashy press release, I still won't believe YYC-FRA is happening until I actually see a 787 taking off. Should be noted, they also included this route in a press release a year ago as well.

Surprising that there are no US destinations out of Edmonton. None out of Winnipeg either.

Coldrsx Jul 8, 2021 7:51 PM

We prefer to connect through YYC.

YEG and YWG both have Swoop. Wise to avoid direct competition with WestJet's flanker brand in as many places as possible. Looks like YYZ-SFB, YYZ-AZA and YYZ-LAS are the only routes F8 will directly compete on with W0.

Also, Flair probably see an opportunity to pounce on AC on the likes of YOW-FLL/SFB(MCO) where AC will be operating far less capacity than in past years. YOW has been neglected by the majors for years on transborder routes. YKF's traffic growth will probably be 1000% now for 2021 vs 2020.

Region of Waterloo has recently approved an expansion to up annual capacity of YKF from about 250,000 to 800,000 pax.

Any images of the expansion? I'm guessing it'll be sans loading bridges like YHM in keeping with an ULCC airport?

Nothing I’ve seen. I think I saw reference to “modular” passenger facilities, which sounds like something interim.
