Downtown Dallas = ? Inside the loop?
Most don't realize it, but the West End and Deep Ellum are both downtown. Neither are dead after 5pm. Deep Ellum is probably the biggest night spot in the whole metroplex. The parts where there are mostly tall office buildings are as dead as any other city I've seen after 5pm. |

Yep, downtown is changing REALLY fast.
Here are some more projects: Republic Centre conversion into condos: http://wre.netmerchants.net/propertyimages/4804-12.jpg 2600 North Houston condos: http://www.gideontoal.com/pics/categories.5.img.jpg More condos/offices: http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/at...s=&postid=7927 Ryan, you're right. Dallas is underepped on the forum, esp. compared to other sunbelters like Houston and Atlanta. |

thanks owl for that. i was gonna point that out. i don't know why people think that dallas is so dead. i mean, it could be better but west end and deep ellum surround the cbd on both sides and are still considered downtown and have plenty of nightlife goin on. also america's largest urban arts district in downtown is taking some big changes and development also shown in the 9th pic. The 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th pics are showing the West End expansion project taking place over former parking lots. And the 2nd-4th pics show the long-awaiting Iron Cactus restaurant(a famous hit on 6th st in Austin) on main street in the middle o' downtown. also in DT's pics above, he shows in his first pic the Republic Centre which has a big chance of being converted into Dallas' tallest residential high-rise building filled with beautiful units. these are a few of just the downtown projects. Uptown has many more because it's the only area in dallas that's having a major boom in residential growth and building construction!

To let ya know, Freaky: The Waverly is already under construction. You can see the crane on my pano to the left of Cityplace. Labelled as ZOM in the West Village rendering. Camden Farmers Market is also under construction right now. Oh yeah, and building 7D on the West Village rendering is open. Now 7C is under construction. Some others you missed are the NW DART line to and past Victory, UT Southwestern(Huge amount of clearing and a few 15-20 story towers are going up. One is just nearing completion), and Children's Medical Center tower. The tower has actually opened though it's still under construction. The seperation surgery on the Egyptian siamese twins actually happened there.

yes sirree, i know. it's fantastic! i don't know what made you think that i said the waverly is not under construction. infact here's a crappy pic of just the cranes goin up. you can't really see any of the actual structure in this though. but it's always great to see cranes, cause then you know there's some action goin on. the rendering of the waverly guys is the first pic just to let you know.
