Three of the four Dow's Lake towers are topped out, and one nearly complete. Better get started on new projects to keep up the momentum! How about that project with the spot for a grocery store? Or hey, Richcraft, after you're done with the Charlotte, can you start on The Sky?

So(ho) towers are all offset from each other and Envie, so it's not quite as bad as it looks. That said, if we built slimmer and taller point towers like in Vancouver, it wouldn't be this bad. But you know, height restrictions or perceived height restrictions take precedent in Ottawa.

As for May Nickson, the faces that have been boxed-in didn't have windows, for what it's worth. If anything is built behind it though, quite a few tenants will perpetually have views of a wall.

Lot-line to lot-line should not be allowed above the podium (or in cases with no "podium", we'll say 6 or 8 floors) for right-to-light and privacy reasons.

Fascinating how one picture looks like a dense cluster and the other very sparsely built. Maybe in 10 years, it will be dense all around.

Actually there were three lines of windows, one on the east and two on the west. At least on the west face the buildings don't physically touch. Can't imagine borrowing a cup of sugar from your sky neighbour reaching out the window though.

Soho's Envy is not really more dense than anything at the top of Bronson, or the boxed-in 'The Laurier'. However its a bit jarring when its outstanding in its field.

We DO seriously need to have a talk about May Nicholson, The Sidney Towers and less important but still important, Claridge's Envy and The St. George. To think that we can just box in the poors because they don't matter is one thing, and to also create a dystopian overbuilt environment (just because we can) shouldn't be accepted as being the right thing to do.

May Nicholson is interesting. I understand there's an expansion joint in there somewhere, but what happens in an earthquake situation? Clearly Gotham and May Nicholson have different frequencies. Do they just bang together to smithereens?

At least Claridge and Envy in the market could have possibly shared data with eachother, and are exactly the same height, so as to lessen the smithereens.

(When will Google Maps be updated from 2021? Really curious to see the updated view from where the 'tim hortons' is listed here: https://goo.gl/maps/Ji2YN7KEDxu4NoQN6)

She's not Jack's cousin?

Yes, those were lines of windows. I wonder what they were for? Elevator lobby? And how did they get filled in during construction? Just drywalled over from the inside? Are there 15-storey hollows?

The expansion joint I'm talking about is the small gap between Gotham and May NICKson.

No. The Sussex streetcar was replaced by buses on January 18, 1954. This enabled the replacement of the old iron bridges with the more modern bridges that we see today. Somewhere, I have pictures of the old bridges. The new city hall officially opened on October 31, 1957.

Thanks. Wikipedia mentioned the Britannia Line was last to be shut down in 1959, but I was unsure about the others. You have an impressive wealth of knowledge about local history.

That Marriott is more spandrel than windows.

Every other hotel property they have in Montreal looks decent, even good. Why did they have to cheap out so much in Ottawa? I'm terrified of what the Market and Bay street hotels will look like.

The new building on the Quebec side is 'Aalto 2'. Interesting...I would have thought 'O2', because it looks more like 'O' than Aalto. I think Aalto 2 might be the most architecturally meritless 21st century building in the NCR.

Westboro skyline is now hidden behind the wall of Parkdale. The 40 floor towers might peak through when they get built, but the rest won't be visible from this angle. Even Metropole is hidden.

On the Gatineau side, W/E I is just barely visible from certain angles, but W/E II (and III once built) are completely hidden. Disappointing. Hull really needs a new PPU that would beef up the skyline while preserving certain blocks of well preserved Ile de Hull stock.

Spectacular vantage point. Despite the lack of height, when viewed as a whole, the region does look like one of 1.5 million people.

It's a travesty though that the Hull towers near the MC Bridge as so low. That would have been a good spot to go tall.
