Ruhla is a municipality in the district of Wartburg in the west of Thuringia. It is situated 530-meters above sea level adjacent to the municipality of Rennsteig in the Forest of Thuringia. It consists of three settlements, Ruhla, Thal, and Kittelsthal.
The city was well known in the past for its manufacturing of clocks/timepieces, and now has an economy based on tourism, and the Naturpark Thüringer Wald.
