Villingen-Schwenningen is a city and largest municipality in the district of Schwarzwald-Baar. Located at the eastern edge of the Black Forest, the section of Schwenningen contains the source of the River Neckar. As the name suggest, the municipality was formed with the merging of the cities of Villingen and Schwenningen (along with other smaller villages). Because of a plateau between the two, the two cities retain their own distinct cultures.
