Hillsborough is a picturesque villagae located in County Down 19km (12 miles) from Belfast. The city is famous for Hillsborough Castle, the royal family's official residence when visiting Northern Ireland.
The city is also known as the location of an infamous and disasterous meeting between future American Benjamin Franklin, and Lord Hillsborough in the early 1770's to discuss the American colonies political status that eventually led to Benjamin Franklin supporting the idea of the American Revolution. |
