Jilin City, after 1673 AD, the name "Shipyard" was gradually changed to "Jilin Wula" due to its inappropriate use of the terms "Jianmu City" and "Resident General". Later, in both spoken and written language, the word 'wula' was often omitted and abbreviated as Jilin. In 1685 AD, Emperor Kangxi ordered the use of the term "Jilin", which became the legal title thereafter. In August 1945, Japan was defeated and surrendered, and the Kuomintang established the "Jilin Local Public Security Maintenance Association". In October, the Jilin Municipal Government was established under the organization of the Jilin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. In November, the Jilin Provincial Government was established, with its capital located in Jilin City.
