Alexeyevka founded in 1840. In 1868–1964 it has a name Chistyakovo and became a city in 1932. In 1964 it renamed Torez in honor of French Communist Party leader Maurice Thorez, who died that year and was a miner. In 2016 Torez was renamed to its historical name Chystiakove, but beeing occupied by Russia it de facto keeps old name.
