Wuppertal is a city and urban district just to the south of the the highly-populated Ruhr Urban Area along the Wupper River. It is a major industrial center.
Wuppertal is one of the few cities in the world with a monorail as public transport system. It was inaugurated in 1903 and has a single 13.28 kilometres long line.
