Changchun, abbreviated as "Chang" and also known as "Northern Spring City", was formerly known as Xidu. Located in the northeast region of China, at the geographical center of Northeast China, it borders Songyuan, Siping, Jilin, and Harbin respectively. It is the capital and vice provincial city of Jilin Province. The total area is 24744 square kilometers, and as of May 2020, it governs 7 districts, 1 county, and manages 3 county-level cities. The total population in 2022 is 9.0654 million people. It is the political, economic, and cultural center of Jilin Province; It is an important industrial base, a national historical and cultural city, and a comprehensive transportation hub in China; It is known as the "Detroit of the East" and the "Hollywood of the East". The main landform type is low mountains and hills, located in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere at mid latitudes, belonging to the temperate continental semi humid monsoon climate. 40000 years ago during the Paleolithic era, primitive humans known as the "Yushu Man" appeared in Changchun; Changchun was the capital of Fuyu State from the Han Dynasty to the Western Jin Dynasty, and was the capital of Manchukuo during the Republic of China period; On October 19, 1948, Changchun was peacefully liberated; On the 21st, Changchun City was renamed Changchun Special City and was under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Administrative Commission.
