Jinhua, abbreviated as Jin and formerly known as Wuzhou, is located in the central part of Zhejiang Province and is a provincial-level city named after Jinhua Mountain within its borders. It has jurisdiction over 8 districts, counties, cities, and 1 economic and technological development zone. Located in the eastern section of the Jinqu Basin, it is a hilly basin area in central Zhejiang, with high terrain in the north and south and low terrain in the middle. The basic feature of Jinhua's topography is that it is surrounded by mountains on three sides and a river on one side, with basins scattered across three rivers. It belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate with distinct four seasons and moderate annual temperature. More than 50 types of minerals have been discovered in the area, of which 32 are available for development and utilization. As of 2021, the land area is 10942 square kilometers and the permanent population is 7.127 million people (as of the end of 2022). The gross domestic product (GDP) of the entire city in 2022 is 556.247 billion yuan. The urban area is located at the confluence of Dongyang River, Wuyi River and Jinhua River, with an area of 2049 square kilometers and a built-up area of 104.3 square kilometers.

As of 2022, there are a total of 1864 full-time schools of all levels and types in the city (excluding technical schools, the same below), including 395 primary schools, 190 junior high schools, 93 ordinary high schools, 1152 kindergartens, 24 secondary vocational schools, 9 special education schools, 9 full-time universities, and 2 adult colleges.

As of 2022, there are a total of 4663 medical and health institutions in the city, including 159 hospitals; 163 health centers (including community health service centers); 277 outpatient departments; There are 41 professional public health institutions (10 women's health centers, 10 disease prevention and control institutions, 10 health supervision institutions, and 4 specialized disease prevention and control institutions); 20 other health institutions; There are a total of 4003 clinics, medical rooms, health clinics, community health service stations, and village clinics.

Jinhua has been established for over 2200 years. In ancient times, it belonged to the territory of Yue State, and in Qin Dynasty, it was incorporated into Kuaiji Commandery. Since the establishment of Dongyang Commandery in the first year of Wu Baoding in the Three Kingdoms period (266), it has a history and splendid culture of more than 1800 years. On May 7, 1949, Jinhua was liberated and the eighth administrative region of Zhejiang Province, Jinhua Special Zone, was established. In March 1955, Quzhou Special Zone was abolished and merged. In May 1985, the State Council approved the revocation of the Jinhua area and established two cities, Jinhua and Quzhou, implementing a city administered county system. In December 2000, Jinhua County was abolished and Jindong District of Jinhua City was established. Jinhua, historically known as the "Little Zoulu", is renowned as a "land of history and culture, a gathering place for famous people, a city of flourishing literary style, and a hometown of beautiful mountains and clear waters"
