Description
- The hotel complex was constructed in three phases with the low-rise portion copleted in 1966, and the mid-rise and high-rise portion being completed in 1980.
- The hotel closed in 2009, but the property was purchased by New Zealand-based Kiwi Hospitality Detroit in 2015. They opened the high-rise portion of the hotel as a 206-room Best Western Premier in 2017, and plan to open the rest of the hotel as a 54-suite Best Western Executive Residency later that year. A 105-room La Quinta Inns and Suites will be built on the remainder of the site to be completed in 2019.
- The 2017 renovation included renovating the top of the tower restaurant space as three executive boardrooms.
