Description This mosque was originally built by the Prophet Mohammad, who is also buried at this site. Muslims consider it their second holiest site after Makkah, and many make pilgrimages to it.

706- Caliph Al-Walid Bin Abdul Malik- 6450 square meters
779- Caliph Al-Mahdi Al-Abbasi- 8900 square meters
1483- Sultan Qaid Bey- 9020 square meters
1849- Sultan Abdul Majid- 10193 square meters
1950- King Saud- 16327 square meters
1985-1994- King Fahd Bin Abdul- 400,327 square meters (includes areas on different floors and roof, all of which are used for prayer.)
In its current form, up to 1,200,000 worshippers can be accomodated in the main building and surrounding areas. Building features include full air conditioning as well as retractable domes.
