• A lattice tower, situated 648m aabove sea level, with triangular cross section used for FM-broadcasting, radio relay links and mobile phone services. Before the introduction of DVB-T, the tower was equipped with an antenna on the top used for two powerful TV transmitters, ZDF (Channel 21, 220 kW) and WDR 3 (Channel 50, 330 kW).
• In spite of the small height the transmitter had a large range as it is situated on a high plateau just a few hundred metres away from the border between Germany and Belgium.
• The tower was known at those days "Sender Monschau". After introduction of DVB-T the TV-broadcasting GFK-cylinder antenna was dismantled with a helicopter. The tower is today less tall before it was used for TV broadcasting. A dipole antenna with reflector allows by 97.2 MHz with only 50 Watt Power Anenna Ac to send signals to Belgium.
