• The president of the Province of Sergipe, Inácio Barbosa, in 1854, sent to the General Government a plant with the budget for construction of a lighthouse in the estuary and right edge of the river Cotinguiba or Aracaju.
• In 1860 it was ordered of England a lantern and accessories to be placed in a wooden tower that served of sentry. The lantern was installed in 17 of January of 1861, being inaugurated in day 12 of October of the same year.
• In 1881, the wooden atalaia threatened to ruin. The director of Lighthouses, captain-lieutenant Peter Benjamim Lima, requested the substitution for a tower with 25 meters of height. The order was not taken care of.
• In 27 of March of 1884 a fire consumed the sentry. In the same year a provisory tower was provided that functioned up to 1886, when had beginning the construction of a metallic tower that it would receive a device luminous, both (iron and equipment) deriving of France. The new structure was inaugurated in day 7 of September of 1888.
• The lighthouse consisted of a metallic tower Mitchel system form, having in the base the house and in the top a device to lens that it used the kerosene as fire. The sparkling white light could clearly be seen the 17 miles of the coast in time.
• The construction of the lighthouse was trusted mechanic Vitor Alinquat. This lighthouse was disactivated in 16 of July of 1991, when the new lighthouse of Aracaju in the Coroa do Meio was lighted, in 12 of July of 1991.
• During the interval of 4 days a lantern of emergency was installed so that the equipment was transferred of the old one for the new lighthouse .
• The current lighthouse of the Coroa do Meio functions with an electric light bulb of 220V/1.000W, adapted in the old device to lenticular, acquired in France in 1886.
• In 118 years of existence, the lighthouse never had restaured. Its act of inauguration happened in 1888 and the deactivation occurred in 16 of July 1991, when the new lighthouse of Aracaju was lighted, in the quarter Coroa do Meio. In the year of 1995, the monument was overthrown by the historic site and artistic of Sergipe, through decree 15,295 of 21 of April. It went a complete restauration in 2008 for touristic proposes with a cost of R$ 965 thousand.
• 8600 screws were used and is 50 tons.
