Description
• Architect: Steinman, Boynton, Gronquist & London (Ray M. Boynton)
• Main Span: 1012.9 m
• Length between anchorages: 2227.6 m
• This bridge connects the cities of Lisbon and Almada.
• Europe's tallest bridge till Pont de Normandie was topped out (completed in 1995)
• The bridge carries 6 automobile lanes on the upper deck, and 2 train tracks on the lower platform. It originally only carried 4 traffic lanes. The middle rail seperating traffic was removed to create the first additional land in 1990, and the second additional lane in 1998.
