Description The concrete-steel tower next to the building of "Europe 1" was built for broadcasting the first private TV programme in Germany called "Telesaar" from 1954 to 1958. After Saarland got a part of Germany in 1956 ( Saarland was a semi-independent state between 1945 and 1956 controlled by France) transmission of "Telesaar" had to be stopped as private broadcasting was not allowed in Germany until Mid of 1980ies. However the longwave broadcasting station was allowed to continue broadcasting, but only in French language. The TV service of "Europe 1" was never restarted. The concrete tower is an independent structure.
