The lower fire is one of the "classical" iron beacons of the Weser river which were put up in 1898. This lighthouse served originally, however, the weser backwards going ship journey as an lower fire Einswarden, until it was moved in 1914 to the today's location for the weser entrance going ships. Same happened with the upper fire which had to be substituted, however, in 1962 with a new building.
The building originated within the scope of the New fire occurred between 1896 and 1898 of the Weser river, with the numerous, to a great extent standardised towers were put up between Bremerhaven and Bremen. Trigger was the "Weser correction" of the 1887-1895 years which calling Bremen should also allow to bigger ships again.
