• Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino originally opened as the Aladdin Hotel & Casino. The hotel featured an Arabian theme and replaced the original Aladdin which operated from 1966 to 1997. The old Aladdin was imploded in 1998 and the new Aladdin opened in 2000. Due to financial issues the Aladdin was sold in bankruptcy to a partnership between Planet Hollywood and Starwood in 2004. Renovations began in 2005 and occurred in phases allowing the resort to stay open. The Arabian theme was replaced with a contemporary aesthetic and in 2007 the resort started operating as Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
