Description - This mobile building on rails was originally constructed from 1966 to 1969 as part of abandoned Manned Orbiting Laboratory.
- The structure was transformed into the West Coast Space Shuttle launch site beginning 1972, which included the lowering of the height of the tower in 1985.
- Nearly ready for its first space launch, the Challenger disaster of 1986 grounded the entire space shuttle program, and West Coast launches were cancelled indefinitely.
- The structure was reconfigured in 1999, and is now used as support for the launching of Delta IV.
