- This tower platform was used for the launching of the Skylark, a sounding rocket which took measurements of the upper atmosphere.

- The Skylark rockets, which were Brisith-built research rockets, had 441 lanuches from Esrange between 1957 to 2005.

- The tower was part of the Esrange (European Space and Sounding Rocket Range).
