Description • The Mast was originally constructed to a height of 150 meters, but was reduced to 130 meters in height in 1990.
• According to http://sfbb.sf.funpic.de/bilder/torfhaus37.jpg the mast was originally a partially guyed tower with a lattice tower as basement. The lattice structure around the tube was removed.
• Important transmitter. Over this mast many people in
former Eastern Germany could receive television programmes from former Western Germany.(The famous Brocken Mountain, which belonged to former Eastern Germany is nearby).
Close to the mast, there is a 57 metre tall lattice tower. This tower carryed until 1990 a parabolic antenna with a diametre of 18 metres, which was used for an overhorizon directional radio link to former Western Berlin (on Brocken Mountain there was a listen station to receive the signals of this directional radio link).
