• The site was originally occupied by the El Rancho Hotel and Casino which was imploded in 2000 to make way for a London themed resort. The project was later cancelled after 9/11 and plans for the Fontainebleau Las Vegas were announced in 2005.

• The final cost of the project totaled $3.7 billion, making it the second most-expensive resort constructed in Las Vegas.
