- Engineer: The Audubon Institute

- The aquarium was effected by Hurricane Katrina in September of 2005, when it was found that the power outage caused by the hurricane left only the backup generators going to support the life support systems for the animals. Almost all 10,000 of the animals perished.

- The aquarium reopened on May 26, 2006.
