Description

Developer: Holzbau Gröber GmbH

• Rottenbuch Radio Tower was a cellphone and radio relay tower built of Douglas fir wood.
• It was at time of completion the fifth tallest wooden structure in the world and the tallest wooden structure in Germany.
• In July 2020 it was discovered that the tower was heavily damaged by ants and that its structural integrity was not safe anymore. Although efforts to stabilize it were successful, it was decided to replace it by a new steel tower ( https://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=141072 ), which was built from 2024 to 2025.
• In spring 2026 Rottenbuch Radio Tower was demolished piece by piece using a mobile crane.
