- Architect (spire): E.B. White
- The spire of the church was added 10 years after the church building's completion.
- Between 1893 and 1915 the church steeple was equip with a beacon making it a functioning lighthouse.
- The church was damaged by Hurrican Huge in 1989. It costed $4,500,000 to repair the church.
- The church bells were melted down to make Confederate cannons during the American Civil War.
- The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
