Description
- This Cathedral sits adjacent to Les Halles, an underground mall and public square often called the "belly of Paris."

- The church site was originally dedicated to St. Agnes in the 12th Century.

- The exterior of the church is Gothic in style, but the interior is in a Renaissance Revival style.

- Work on the cathedral stopped sometime in the second half of the 16th Century due to religious wars, and did not restart again until 1624.

- The current church building started construction in 1532 under Jean de la Barre, the mayor of Paris. It was meant to be the city center, and also included the expansion of the public square around the church.

- The original architect is unknown.
