Description
Architect: Rafael Viñoly Architects

Developers:
• MGM Resorts International
• Dubai World

• Vdara Hotel & Spa is a part of the Aria Campus (formerly known as Project CityCenter). The complex was constructed between 2006 - 2010 and includes the Aria Resort & Casino, Vdara hotel-condo, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas hotel-condo, Veer Towers condominiums, The Shops at Crystals, and convention space. The project cost $8.5 billion making it the most expensive privately funded construction project in U.S. history at the time of completion.

• Unlike most Las Vegas resorts Vdara is a non-gaming and non-smoking property. The Aria Campus does not feature a theme but rather a contemporary and luxurious aesthetic.

• In 2010 it was discovered that the tower's reflective concave facade was producing a solar glare with extremely high temperatures pointed at the pool deck. Umbrellas were added over the pool deck and the tower's exterior was covered non-reflective film. A similar phenomenon also occurred to London's "Walkie-Talkie" building, also designed by Viñoly.
