Description
- Drakelow Power Station (originally Willington Power Station), upon its completion, was the largest power station in Europe, capable of an output of 976 kw.

- Began in the early 1950's, the three units of the power station, A, B, and C, were fully operational by 1964.

- The two tall chimneys of the A unit were constructed of slightly pink-colored concrete to try to make the station more visibly appealing.

- The A unit was demolished by explosives on 27 November 2005, having ran through their lifespan.
