Description
Architects:
• Jerde Partnership International
• Butler/Ashworth Architects

Developer: Steve Wynn

• Wynn Las Vegas was constructed on the site of the Desert Inn which occupied the site since 1950. The resort closed in 2000 after developer Steve Wynn purchased the property with plans for a new resort named Le Reve. The Desert Inn's 3 towers were imploded between 2001 - 2004 while construction began on Le Reve on October 31, 2002. Le Reve opened as Wynn Las Vegas on April 28, 2005 and construction on a sister property known as Encore at Wynn Las Vegas began exactly one year later. Encore at Wynn Las Vegas opened on December 22, 2008.

• Encore at Wynn Las Vegas cost $2.3 billion to construct. The final cost of Wynn Las Vegas after the addition of Encore at Wynn Las Vegas totaled at $5.2 billion making it the most expensive resort ever constructed at the time of completion.
