- The building was originally built as the "Spain's Pavilion" in the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929.

- The structure was used for a background scene in the motion pictures (at least wide known):
- Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
- Star Wars, Episode II - The attack of the Clones (2002)
- The dictator- Borat (2006)
