Description
- The building was badly damaged by a hurricane in 1683.

- The central tower began construction in 1824 after a large portion of the church was damaged in a fire two years earlier in 1822.

- This was the world's tallest, man-made structure until 1880, when it was surpassed by the Kolner Dom in Cologne in 1880.
