• Construction started in 1913, but due to a fire in 1916 the building wasn't completed for many years.
• In the mid 1970s, the building was bought and a penthouse addition was designed by renowned architect, I.M. Pei. The Penthouse cost ½ million dollars.
• On the National Register of Historic Places since 1979.
