Description
The Spirit of Lekwammen is the tallest totem pole in the world and was originally erected at Songhees Point on the Victoria West side of Victoria's Inner Harbour during the 1994 Commonwealth Games.

Concerns over the totem pole's proximity to an active seaplane landing path resulted in its relocation to Victoria's Beacon Hill Park situated on the southern-most point of the city overlooking the Salish Sea's Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Prior to the move to Beacon Hill Park, the Spirit of Lekwammen was reduced in size in order to preserve a small portion of the totem pole at Songhees Point.
