Caesers Palace Resort & Casino History
1966 - 1970's
• Caesers Palace opened in 1966 with the 16 Story Roman Tower. In 1967 Evel Knievel attempted his famous jump over the Caesers Palace fountains and failed. The 14 Story Centurion Tower was added in 1970, an addition was made to the Roman Tower in 1974.
1979 - 1980's
• In 1979 the 22 story Fantasy Tower (now Fourm Tower) was constructed. In 1980, at the base of the then Fantasy Tower, the domed Omnimax Theater (later renamed Circus Maximus) was added in 1980. In 1989, Evel Knievel's son, Robbie Knievel attempted and succeeded jumping the Caesars Palace fountains.
1992 - 2000's
• The Caesars Palace Fourm Shops Shopping Mall was completed in 1992, which would expand many times later. In 1997 the 29 Story Palace Tower was completed, along with more shops, convention space, and pools. In 2000, to match the Palace Tower's romanesque design, all three towers where remodeled, along with the demolition of the Omnimax Theatre.
2001 - Future
• Circus Maximus was replaced with a new theater, a replica of the Colosseum in 2003. In 2004 the Fourm shops opened its latest and most impressive expansion, bringing the shops to Las Vegas Boulevard. In 2005, the 26 story Augustus Tower was completed, with new shops, wedding chapels and other amenities. In 2009, the 23 story Octavius Tower will be completed, along with more convention space.
