Description
- Built to supply additional power and steam to factories and office buildings in the central business district. The coal fired power plant was in operation until 1997 and was expanded in 1926 and 1948.

- In 2007, Struever Brothers Eccles & Rouse agreed to renovate the power plant and several other industrial buildings around it to retail, residential and research labs in a 1.28 million square foot, half billion dollar plan. SBER became a victim of the Great Recession and couldn't move forward with their plans.

- In 2015, BioMed Realty purchased the power plant and their subsidiary, Wexford Equities, began renovation, converting it into a retail and entertainment center, featuring a bowling alley, movie theatre, performing arts center, skate park, science museum, ice skating rink, outdoor market, and boardwalk with restaurants.
