• This project, voted Norway's Engineering project of the 20th Century, is a reinforced concrete Gravity Base structure (GBS) operating over the Norwegian continental shelf. The tube shaped skirt piles are pushed 36m into the soft alluvial deposits while the water surface is another 305m above that.
• The GBS weighs 656,000 (metric) tonnes and consumed over 245,000 cubic metres of concrete and one million kg of reinforcing steel. The total height of the GBS is 369m plus the topsides units above.
