- It was annonced in November 2005 that the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino will close on January 9th, 2006. The tower was imploded at 2:30am on May 9, 2006. The tower was only 10 years old.
- The project will be replaced by a CVS Pharmacy, part of Project CityCenter, a mixed-use project including, food, retail, recreation, and highrises reatching up to 600 feet. It will cost 5 billion.
When the hotel opened in 1972 as the Boardwalk Holiday Inn, in 1995-1996 a new 15 story tower was added and the whole project was renovated and renamed the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino.
- The hotel offers a replica of Coney Island, that looks big enough to use but its just a replica.
