Description
The building was originally known as "Bunce’s", which was Middletown's first ever major department store. It was owned by James H. Bunce until 1907, when his sons took over.
The building would expand throughout the years. The tallest part of the building, the clock tower, was built in 1920.
Bunce's would close in 1974, and another department store, Shapiro's, would begin using the site up until 1986, when it was converted into a shopping center known as the "Clocktower Shops". It was renamed again to "Main Street Market" in 1998 and in 2026, it was renamed to "The Clock Tower".
