The Reno Arch is an iconic landmark located in downtown Reno, Nevada, spanning Virginia Street at the intersection with Commercial Row.
The original arch was built in 1926 to commemorate the completion of the Lincoln and Victory Highways, which later became part of U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 80, and a slogan contest resulted in the famous "Reno, The Biggest Little City in the World," slogan being first displayed on the sign in 1929.
The original arch was replaced in 1963 with a larger, more elaborate structure, which was later donated to Willits, California, where it was modified and now stands on Main Street.
The current arch was installed in 1987 and has since seen significant updates including the replacement of incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED lighting in 2009.
In 2017, the city council approved a color scheme change to silver and blue, aligning the arch's appearance with the University of Nevada, Reno, which was completed in 2018.
