UEFA Euro 2004 venue.
The stadium hosted the UEFA Euro 2004 final, as well as the 2014 and 2020 UEFA Champions League finals. It is expected to be one of the venues for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Besides being the home ground of Benfica, it also occasionally hosts home games of the Portuguese National Football Team (Seleção Portuguesa de Futebol).
It was expanded in 2025, from approximately 65,000 seats to its current capacity of 68,100. There are plans to further expand and renovate the stadium. By 2026/2027, it should have a capacity of 70,000 seats, as per Jornal de Negócios. According to the official website (https://www.slbenfica.pt/pt-pt/instituicao/benfica-district), as of 2025, the club is working on another expansion that would increase the capacity to 80,000.
The current stadium was built right next to the site of the old Estádio da Luz, which once had an official capacity of 120,000.
The heights shown above correspond to measurements from the pitch/field to the top of the roof and to the highest point of the four arches.
